Communications Truck
Planning for a new Communications Vehicle began in the Fall of 2003. The current Comm Van at the time was 16 years old and lacking in power to make it up to the summit. Many hours were spent debating the configuration, size, drive-train and power plant for a new vehicle. Since most of our activity takes place in the mountains we eventually decided on a Ford F-450 truck chasis, four wheel drive with a V-10 gas engine.
It wasn't until 2006 that funds became available and the project of a new Communications Truck is becoming a reality. Many months where spent reviewing and approving specification before the final design was approved. The selected vendor Braun Northwest began the build in October of 2006. In January 2007 we took delivery of the new vehicle and began installation of new equipment.
The new truck was placed into service during the summer of 2007.
