Membership requirements:
- A resident of Placer County or an adjacent county.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Each member is expected to purchase and maintain the approved uniform for which insignia will be provided.
- Each member must continually meet participation requirements including participation of at least half of the unit functions including meetings, training, public relations events and calls for service.
Members are encouraged to participate in the SAR Tech Training program which includes instruction in:
CPR and First Aid
SAR Fundamentals
Map and Compass
Man Tracking
Rough Terrain Rescue
Wilderness Survival
Prospective members are invited to attend a Communications Unit meeting which is held the 3rd Monday of each month, except December. The meeting is held at 1900 hours at the SAR Office in the new Auburn Justice Center located on Richardson Avenue. At the meeting an application may be completed and submitted. The application will be reviewed by the Communications Unit Management along with the Sheriff's Department. The prospective member is asked to attend 3 meetings after which the Unit Membership will vote on accepting the new member.
