The Communications unit is comprised of volunteers with various backgrounds. Numerous members are professionals in the disciplines of radio communications, computers and networking. Members paricipate in Communications Unit specific training as well as Search & Rescue training.

Members are encouraged to complete SAR Fundamentals and Map & Compass courses as a minimum. Numerous other courses are available including, CPR, First Aid, Man Tracking, Rough Terrain Rescue and Wilderness Survival. Members completing all courses are awarded the status of SAR Tech.

Unit specific training would include Communications Truck Deployment and Operations as well as operations of repeaters, radios, computers, mapping and generators.
